Lee DeBrabander

Lee DeBrabander retired from the Long Beach Police Department as a Police Commander and has over thirty years of law enforcement experience. During his career, he spent fifteen years in the Investigations Bureau. His assignments in the bureau consisted of Vice Investigations, Major Drug Investigations, as well as the lieutenant in Homicide where he was responsible for overseeing the criminal investigation of officer involved shootings and death in-custody cases. He conducted the subsequent administrative investigation and presented the findings to the department leadership and community groups. Additionally, Mr. DeBrabander was Commander of the department’s Professional Standards Division where he was responsible for the administrative investigation into complaints against department employees, both sworn and non-sworn. He provided an in-depth and thorough presentation on the findings to the Executive Team. He was also the department’s subject matter expert on several high liability policies.

Mr. DeBrabander has a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Long Beach, a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, and is a graduate of the prestigious Public Safety Leadership Program: Safe Communities Initiatives from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. He is a licensed California Private Investigator (PI 189741) and is a member of the California Association of Licensed Investigators and the Association of Workplace Investigators.
